Brio! Flutes are designed and built by flutists, for flutists. Brio! is the creation of Dr. Gerardo Discepolo, highly regarded flutist, educator and industry leader. Dr. Discepolo brings years of performance, design and leadership experience in the music industry to Brio! An accomplished international performer in his own right, he was a Fulbright scholar finishing with an MMA in Music, an MBA, and a doctorate of musical arts.

Dr. Discepolo worked at different times as president of the Haynes Flute Company, vice president at both Powell Flutes and Eastman Winds, and was responsible for marketing of flutes at Conn-Selmer.

As CEO of Gemstone Musical Instruments, Dr. Discepolo immediately set out to make the highest quality premium step-up flute in the world; a flute that would exceed the expectations of players and educators. The first step in this process was a collaboration with Dana Sheridan, master flute maker and headjoint maker. The Dana Sheridan Series head joint distinguishes Brio! by providing a professionally designed embouchure, giving professional playing characteristics to the advancing student.

The precision and quality control for Brio! sets new industry standards for design, consistency in manufacturing, and adherence to bench-testing standards. Each Brio! is crafted to play perfectly out of the box, and continue to provide carefree performance for the dedicated young flutist.
